It’s hard to imagine summer has already come and almost gone here in Chicago. BLINK! Jeans, chunky sweaters and North Face coats are only a few weeks away (Oh, quit your bitching already…fall is sexy and winter is an even better reason to pull ‘em closer for longer-take advantage). What a great summer in Chicago, as an observer and participant. There were the usual events-Midsommerfest (which is in early June, but whatever), Pride, Market Days and countless other gaieties to keep the gayborhood changing their tank tops and losing their overpriced sunglasses at a record pace. There also seemed to be a renewed interest in out-of- towners swinging through Chicago during our warm months. International Mr. Leather weekend on Memorial Day saw an increase in tourism, gay pride had its largest audience to date topping out at over 500,000 people jam packed along the parade route and the 35th Annual Gay Softball World Series landed back in Chicago after a 30+ year absence to record attendance and a whole lot of ball throwing.
This summer, we introduced our newly branded 4 part dance party series “REVOLUTION” at House Of Blues. For the first year, we did really well mainly due to the extremely generous and high octane support of countless people that wanted to see Chicago amp up its nightlife. It is very humbling to see so many people on facebook getting the word out or passing out flyers and inviting their own “lists” to the events. Complete strangers sending us messages in support and asking how they can help-wow. Circuit MOM has never been one person. Circuit MOM is more like an army of people with a united goal to create sexy, loud, beat-driven, sparkly dance parties that encompass happiness, community and a sense of unity.
So, thank you to everyone for your help and continued support. We have our 4th and final party in the 2011 series happening on Saturday, October 29 for Halloween. ZOMBIE REVOLUTION hits the House Of Blues with DJ’s Phil DaBeatz and Tony Moran. Get your costumes ready and come out for an amazing night of music and visuals. Don’t let the zombie theme throw you, though—we want to see everyone’s amazing costumes on the dance floor, so get on it!
