Beyond our wildest dreams, we could not have imagined such an amazing crowd of men and women coming out on Market Days Saturday night for our first mega dance party in 8 years. “Wild West Revolution” was a great success not only for us, but also for Chicago nightlife. In true last minute form (which gives any promoter night sweats) there was a mad rush for ticket sales the day of the event that helped fill Chicago’s famed House Of Blues to the hayloft rafters with Cowboys and Indians from the moment we opened the doors. This event took the collaborative efforts of over 80 people to make it happen and I cannot express my gratitude enough to the many that worked tirelessly to put Chicago’s Market Days street festival back on the map with a late night party.
There are many challenges to getting a party set up and open on time. For our event, we had the a sold out show prior to Wild West Revolution featuring 80’s Pop princesses Tiffany and Debbie Gibson on tour. On paper, their concert was to end at 9:40pm, which gave us 50 minutes to make our 10:30pm advertised opening. We had to break down their stage and band then load in and install a full fledged western set complete with a covered wagon DJ booth, 2 gigantic 7’ tall cowboy boots and a 16’ wide red wooden “ranch entry” fence and opening. Throw up a custom 19’ tall by 30’ wide sunset backdrop and 8 massive wild grass floral arrangements around the venue and you’ve got yourself a wild west party. Problem is, there are the occasional encores from live acts. Miss Debbie Gibson (celebrating her birthday that night) did 3 additional songs. Normally, I would not care, but when you have 500+ people in line outside for your event, it’s a little stressful when she asks her audience “should I do one more???” NOOOO!! Let the gays in, already?!
We were not sure if people still liked themed parties and would dress up but in the sea of cowboy hats and Indian feather headdresses, I think the answer is a resounding HECK YEAH! Our go go boys really got into it as well with amazing costumes (and bodies to match). There is nothing sexier than a playful, smiling, approachable go go dancer wearing only a smile and an Indian loincloth and our boys did it up right. Toss out some custom bandanas and silver sequin cowboy hats with blinking LED brims and you’ve got a happy dance floor.
Thank you to our Chicago party people and the 1000’s of out of town friends for making the Market Days edition of REVOLUTION a great success. We hope you enjoy the pictures and look forward to our final REVOLUTION of 2011 this Halloween. Zombies unite with DJ Tony Moran on Saturday, October 29. Are you ready?
